happy birthday TO YOU ...

My first play with the Spellbinders Betterpress system.  It is in my opinion worth all the hype and awards, the impression is just gorgeous and seeing is believing, although I do appreciate it is a considered purchase.   Normally I am a alcohol marker kind of girl, but the ink used with this system incidentally created by Ranger is not recommended as it will bleed.  So I have used blending pencils for this one.  I will of course try markers in the near future but as I say I was just playing about, not intending to actually create a finished card.  So coloured cardstock, mat & layered, vellum and the gorgeous press plate which comes with the starter kit along with the sentiment from the Little Message plates.

Thank you for popping by my blog today

Our Badge

I am Guest Designer over at Magnolia Forever for February and as you can see from my blog title the theme is 'Clean & Simple'

I have used 'Hello Little Butterfly Tilda' from the Butterfly Dreams collection back in 2011, just adorable.  So I made a red 7 x 5 card base, a sneak peak of red striped card and some pink hearts.  The sentiment is CG and I have coloured her with a combination of Promarkers & Prismacolor.

Do come and play along with us at Magnolia Forever HERE for a chance to win and a chance to be a guest designer, just like me.

Have a Magical Christmas Son ...

Finally finishing my nearest & dearest Christmas cards, as the title suggests this one is for my Son.
I have used this stamp many times but I just thought my pine cone die works brilliantly with it!
Besides my colouring has come along way since then especially red
which I have always found not to my liking but this one I am pleased with.
---
The stamp is an Elyzbells one but sadly they shut down some time ago.
Coloured in the usual way so I won't detail that.
Sizzix Pine Cone covered with Diamond Dust.
Sentiments are CC Designs & Adorables (as before).
---
I am entering this card in the Passion for Promarkers Mega Christmas Challenge which is 'Celebrations'

Thank you for your visiting my blog

Vintage Santa ... (Joanna Sheen DT Card)

Another DT card today which I made for the Joanna Sheen Challenge this month.
On my first card I coloured Santa in traditional colours but the more I did
I realised what a wonderful warming face he had and decided to go vintage.
Just goes to show this stamp suits both traditional and modern.
---
Stamped little santa onto white cardstock and coloured with a combination of Promarkers,
Flexmarkers and Prismacolors.
Cream cardstock for the backing which has been distressed with TH ink.
Sentiment is also from the stamp set.
Some seam binding, twine, pearls, charm, buttons & cheesecloth from my stash.
The fir cone is a favourite of mine right now available here
All finished off with some hand stitching as my regular followers would expect!
---
I have been asked about my snow effects on previous cards and it is really rather simply.
Colour your image as you wish, dot over the image and background with a white gel pen.
Finally using Liquid Pearls dot over your work once again, leave to dry.
---
For the frosted pine cones or flowers as previously,
pva your work and then add Twinklets Diamond Dust.
---

to enter and win some fabulous prizes.

Winter Tilda ...

Back again, I have been playing with my new Sizzix Bigz die called 'Tattered Pinecone'.  I have been waiting and waiting for this die to arrive and finally Tuesday that day arrived.  You know what us crafter's are like when new goodies are released!!!!
---
I decided that the pine cones would go perfectly with another new addition to my crafty stash; Winter Tilda by Magnolia.  The cones and fir have been sprinkled with Twinklets for a frosty effect.  Again I have coloured this little cutie with a combination of Promarkers, Flexmarkers and Prismacolor.  Some white gel pen dots followed by Opal White Liquid Pearls for the background.
The backing papers are a download  combined with some white cardstock, distressed with Shabby Shutters.  The sentiment and the shabby stamps are Lili of the Valley along with Stempleglede  Grunge collection.  I have highlighted Tildas pom poms and muff with Liquid Applique.  Button and bell from my stash and some bakers twine to finish.  Oh yes, for a change plenty of handstitching too!

Happy Bear-thday ...

Thought I would colour a Teddy Bo  image the other night and this is the end result, this little cutie it called 'On his tod'    Another card with the image being the largest part of the card which is a style I really like (can't you tell)!
---
It doesn't really show well on the picture but the right hand side of Ted has been raised using foam pads in different depths right across to the left foot being just glued flat.
Some ribbon for his bow tie, a few gems, glossy accents for his nose, TH tumbled glass distress ink for the background. Computer generated sentiment and little hand stitching.
---
I have been asked which Prismacolors I use to color these gorgeous little bears, so here goes;
I start with a base of Ginger Root followed by Light Umber, Burnt Ochre and then Dark Brown.
Once these colours have been applied I go lightly over the image with the Ginger Root again but without using the blending solution.  In the darkest areas I use a little black.
This is just my choice of colours but I found it works for me.  Just a matter of playing around to see what suits your technique/style best.
---
I am going to enter this in the Teddy Bo Challenge which is this time round is Clean and Simple

Happy crafting fellow craft addicts, take care Jane x

Rudolph Tilda ...

Today I have a gorgeous Tilda for you; Rudolph Tilda.  This particular stamp was part of last years Christmas release, but I think she is sooo cute I just had to dig her out and play.
I have stamped her on Kraft card and then coloured her using Promarkers for the background and her face and Prismacolor for the rest.  I was trying to create a velvet look and I am rather pleased with how she turned out.
---
The backing papers are a freebie from a mag back in the Summer, I think they are Fancy Pants?  I have matted and layered some red cardstock onto gold mirri with lace trim.  The mistletoe is a Doohickey die which is a new purchase for me.  I have also used some rafia, hand stitched in gold thread and the sentiment is also freebie, distessed with TH Antique Linen. Oh there is also a gold heart pin amongst the mistletoe too!
---
Just received some new Tildas from this years release, they are soooo cute (aren't they all)!
---
Take care, enjoy your crafting and I hope you like todays card

Little Holly ....

Today I have 'Little Holly' from the wonderful Lili of the Valley latest release.  This is the second card I have made using this little cutie but this time I have gone for a night time background.  I have coloured her using a selection of Promarkers, Flexmarkers and Prismas to create this affect.  As you can see I have taken my time and done it 'Pointillism' style.
---
I have used navy linen cardstock, Papermania backing paper, Rymans white cardstock.
The sentiment is from the Adorables range of stamps, some red seam binding and I have recycled the holly leaves & berries from an old cracker, sprinkled with Twinklets diamond dust, all finished off with some more hand stitching.  Almost forgot some Stickles Crystal glitter for the candle to give a warm glow.
---
I am entering this card into the Lili of the Valley challenge this week which is 'Warm and Cozy'
Thanks for looking, take care, Jane x

Christmas Baubles ...

Sounding like a broken record but I am loving the Lili of the Valley Christmas release.  Today my cards are clean and simple using the 'Christmas Baubles' stamp.  I think I am really getting the hang of colouring with red, as I have said previously not a colour I enjoy shading but finally I think I have got it!

I have also shaded using a white Prisma pencil as shown on the lovely Bev's blog HERE
Recipe, well some mirri card, Rymans white cardstock, stamped with Momento Tuxedo Black.  Promarkers & Prismacolor, red gems for the holly berries and Cosmic Shimmer pearl pva for the mistletoe.
---
Thanks to all my followers, old and new.  Also like to thank my fellow Docrafters for all your lovely comments.
Take care, happy crafting

Teddy Bo Wishes ...

Just a quick and simple card today to show you, back to sizing the digi to cover most of the card. I have done the cloud technique using TH tumbled glass distress ink, works well on this image. Matted onto cardstock and then hand stitched.  The sentiment was CG and to finish three gems.  I have coloured using Prismas as I really like the effect it gives on these gorgeous little bears.  Finally not clear on the photograph but he has glossy accents on this goggles too!
---
Thanks for popping by, playing about with bits and pieces on my craft desk so I will post again very soon
Take care, happy crafting Jane x

Teddy Bea in the Spotlight ...

This is my entry for the new challenge over at Teddy Bo; hence the title!
Still playing with the bears and making it large with the image again pretty much filling the whole card.
Loving this image since its release a couple of weeks ago; this Teddy Bea is called "Beach Bea" and I have initially coloured her in with Prismacolor and then dotted over the top with Promarkers to give this effect, rather effective me thinks?
---
I confess this technique came about more by accident as I wasn't happy with the colouring being such a large image and all, so I had a go with the Promarkers and hey presto!  I made a mask for Teddy Bea and dusted Tim Holtz 'Tumbled Glass' distress ink around her for the background and then again dotted with the Promakers to finish. A little bit of stitching (for a change) and some glossy accents for her nose and the puddle beneath her.
---
Thanks for popping, lots of new Teddy Bo images for sale today so please pop over for your weekly fix.  I received some images for my feature last week (very gratefully received Gayle, thank you) so I am off to have a play.
---
Thanks to all my followers regular and new, take care, happy crafting

Catch a falling star ...

OMG, still loving these little teddies and big style!
Again I have enlarged the digi to pretty much fill the entire card and combined her with some free papers from Simply Cards & Papercraft; papers by Fancy Pants.
Adore the colours and the sentiment along with some fab seam binding.
Took me an age to get the dress colour to match the bow as I only have a 48 set Prismacolors
but I am really pleased with the result.
Hand stitched once again, some Cosmic Shimmer Pearl PVA glue, liquid applique for the  hat pom poms, glossy accents for her nose and a cute little button to finish.
---
I don't know if you can really see it from the picture but I have put some 3d foam pads on the left hand side of her to raise her off the page and just double sided tape on the right, rather effective in real life.
---
Thanks for popping by once again and I hope you like todays offering, as always any questions and I am more than happy to share.
---
I have some more new Teddy Bo digis this week so there is a high chance that my next creation is another cute little bear?
Take care, happy crafting, Jane x

Celebrate in style Teddy Bo ...

Finally managed to finish my entry to the Teddy Bo Challenge which this time round is 'Bling it on'
I thought I would go for a male card as it is so easy to bling up a girly card and I need to make more mens cards too!
Very simple design with good old Teddy Bo called 'on his tod' covering pretty much the base of the card, he is celebrating in style with his bow tie and top hat of sorts!
Large diamond for his arm and of course his glossy accent nose.
Coloured with Prismas and a dusting of 'Tumbled Glass' for the backing.
---
Thanks for popping by, hope not to leave it sooo long until my next post, so much to be done and so little crafting time at the mo?
Take care, Jane x

Relax Teddy Bo ...

Oh yes another beautiful little bear, this is my first attempt at the 'cloud' effect as shown on Bev's blog.  I am really pleased with the results and well worth the purchase of  ink dusters and a distress ink pad!  I found it rather rewarding dusting the clouds!  I know that stencils have been around since time began and are by no means a new idea in the world of craft but sometimes we forget techniques as fads come and go but this is one I will be sticking with and trying out different backgrounds for my stamps.
---
No recipe today but please don't hesitate to ask should you require any information regarding this card
---
Take care, the South has had plenty of rain these past few days so can we have the Summer sun back now?
No pleasing some people!
Take care, love Jane x
